HeartSaver First aid cpr/aed instructor training

Total Cost to become an AHA HeartSaver First Aid CPR AED Instructor:

1. Online Instructor Essentials $36.00 PLUS

2. Instructor course on campus $250.00 PLUS

3. Equipment to teach classes such as manikins: Varies and the cost is the Instructor candidates. The course videos and Instructor Manual are included in the course tuition.

These steps outline the flow of the Instructor Candidate through the Instructor Course process:

The HeartSaver Instructor Essentials Course is designed for Individuals who do not work and/or do not have a background in the Healthcare Setting and wish to instruct the HeartSaver First Aid CPR AED program. This registration is for Tuition Only! The HeartSaver Instructor Candidate Must Purchase their Online HeartSaver Essentials Course and Instructor Materials as outlined below. 

BONUS: HeartSaver CPR Instructors will also be instructors for the following agencies who offer reciprocity for AHA instructors for attending HeartSouth's Instructor Course: 

*American Heart Association (This Course)

*American RED CROSS

*American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI)

This will allow you to teach those agencies courses as well as American Heart's Courses.

1. Have a Current HeartSaver Certification (First Aid and CPR AED) OR BLS Provider certification.

2. Be at least 18 years old 

3. Be prepared to complete and pass the HeartSaver Skills check-off 

4. Be prepared to complete and pass the HeartSaver Instructor Written Exam
**** Those who do not successfully pass the HeartSaver Skills & Written exam will not be allowed to continue and must reschedule for the next HeartSaver Instructor Course. Come to class prepared to do this!  

Complete the HeartSaver Instructor Essentials 2020 online portion of the instructor training prior to attending the on campus Instructor course ($36.00) and bring the completion certificate with you to class:

2. HeartSaver Instructor Essentials 2020 Online Course Completion Certificate

3. HeartSaver Instructor Manual in Print or eBook Format 

4. Electronic device to access online modules

Following successful completion of the HeartSaver Instructor Essentials Course (both Online and Classroom portions) The candidate also must  be monitored by a Training Center Faculty member, teaching their first course within 6 months of the Instructor Essentials Course completion date. This will complete the applicant instructor process.   

Classroom with equipment (Manikins, AED Trainers, etc.) rental are available daily for standard flat rates at either the Birmingham or Tuscaloosa locations: 

1-4 hours $75 

4 + hours $125
