Total Cost to become a PALS Instructor:
1. Online Instructor Essentials: $43.90 PLUS
2. Instructor course on campus: $450.00 PLUS
3. Equipment required to teach classes, such as manikins, represents a significant investment. A comprehensive list of the required equipment can be found at the end of this page. The course videos and Instructor Manual are included in the CPR Instructor Tuition as electronic versions. If you prefer DVD or USB videos and/or a physical instructor manual, that would incur an additional cost for the instructor candidate.
4. Certification cards for your students: $12.00 each PLUS Student manual: $60.45 each.
These steps outline the flow for anyone looking to become a PALS Instructor through the Instructor Course process:
The PALS Instructor Essentials Course is tailored for individuals who work in or have a background in the Healthcare Setting and wish to instruct the PALS Provider program. This registration is for Tuition Only! The PALS Instructor Candidate must purchase their Online PALS Essentials Course and Instructor Materials as outlined below.
1. Have a current American Heart Association (AHA) PALS Provider Certification to become a PALS Instructor. 2. Be at least 18 years old. 3. Demonstrate experience working in the healthcare environment with proof of licensure. 4. Be prepared to complete and pass the PALS Skills check-off. 5. Be prepared to complete and pass the PALS Instructor Written Exam. 6. Have the required equipment to teach the course (manikins, AED trainer, etc.). See the list below. **** Those who do not successfully pass the PALS Skills and Written exam will not be allowed to continue and must reschedule for the next PALS Instructor Course. Come to class prepared to do this, as CPR Instructor tuition does not cover multiple attempts.
1. To become a PALS Instructor, complete the PALS Instructor Essentials 2025 online portion of the instructor training before attending the on-campus Instructor course. The CPR Instructor tuition for this online course is $43.90.

Bring with you the essential materials to become a PALS instructor: 1. Proof of Current PALS Provider Certification 2. PALS Instructor Essentials 2025 Online Course Completion Certificate 3. PALS Instructor Manual in Print or eBook Format 4. Copy of Professional Healthcare License 5. An electronic device, such as a laptop, to access online modules associated with your CPR instructor tuition.
After successfully completing the PALS Instructor Essentials Course, including both Online and Classroom portions, candidates can become a PALS Instructor by being monitored by a Training Center Faculty member while teaching their first course within six months of finishing the Instructor Essentials Course. This step is crucial to finalize the applicant instructor process. Additionally, applicants may choose to teach a course on our campus, which is a great opportunity to apply their knowledge. The CPR Instructor tuition covers all necessary materials and support throughout this process.
Rental of classroom equipment, including manikins and AED trainers, is available daily at our Birmingham or Tuscaloosa locations for standard flat rates. You can become a PALS instructor or a CPR instructor and enjoy these rates: 1-4 hours for $75 and 4+ hours for $125. For more information, please contact the Site Coordinator.
